Verify the recruiter through a company phone number or website you found independently.
Do not deposit a check and send money or buy equipment for a stranger.
Do not pay cryptocurrency or other money to unlock work or earnings.
Delay sharing sensitive financial or identity information until you have verified the employer and hiring process.

Report a Job Scam

Think you've encountered a job scam? Report it to the appropriate official agency.

Report to the FTC

Report Internet Crime (FBI IC3)

If you gave a scammer financial information, contact your bank or card issuer immediately.

Already Shared Information or Money?

If you already responded to a suspicious job offer, act quickly.

Bank or card information: Contact your bank or card issuer immediately and ask what steps they recommend.
Social Security number or identity information: Visit IdentityTheft.gov for a recovery plan and consider placing a fraud alert or credit freeze.
Deposited a suspicious check: Contact your bank right away. Do not spend or forward any of the money.
Sent money, gift cards, or cryptocurrency: Contact the payment provider immediately and report the transaction. You can also report fraud at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
Shared a password: Change it immediately anywhere you reused it and turn on two-factor authentication.
